To Mow Or Not To Mow

Mowing your lawn may not seem like a big deal when it comes to the environment, but you see, gas-powered lawn mowers are among the most inefficient engines in the world. The exhaust is also very damaging to the atmosphere and the rest of the plants in your garden.
To make sure that you’re being environmentally friendly, ensure that you’re following these pointers:
1. Do not mow your lawn too short.
2. Let the trimmings lie where they fall – they can be excellent fertilizer.
3. Use an electric or a lawn mower that works without an engine. This makes the whole exercise more carbon neutral.
Watering Plants The Right Way

If you’re using an automated watering system, you’re probably wasting a good portion of perfectly clean fresh water. If that doesn’t hit you hard yet, you’re probably spending twice as much as you need on your water bill.
All the world’s resources are limited – and that includes the fresh water that we use for our daily purposes.
Here are some tips to save water:
1. water plants during the early morning. Watering at noon would only make the water evaporate immediately.
2. Utilize techniques that retain moisture in the soil like mulching.
3. Position the plants that require the most water in the most shaded parts of your garden.
Waterless Urinals: What about the Women?
Monday
Aug 11, 2008

We have seen the evolution of the standard urinals towards the much publicized waterless urinals. Especially focused on the commercial places, men can go to the comfort room without worrying about flushing it and contracting germs in the process. If you will notice it normally says that “This Urinals save 60,000 gallons of water” and so forth. Quite impressive if you talk about conserving water through constant flushing of toilets.
And now the drawback. How about the women? How will they experience the waterless urinal technology if they don’t have one especially made for the female population? This is perhaps one thing waterless urinals failed to consider. Just like men, women go to the urinals as well so how are they to conserve water if they use the standard toilets that have to be flushed to avoid the stinking smell of personal waste?
In all, it seems that this is a critical drawback as far as catering to water conservation for all. Women cannot experience the intent of conserving water with this limitation. In fact, how can the developers do it while at the same time making sure that unwanted odors do not smell while conserving water at the same time?
Goodbye SUVs!

Gas and oil prices seem to be increasing their price by the day and many are wondering how the current crop of gas guzzling vehicles can cope up with them. Imagine the price of crude oil in the market today which is expected to hit the $6 mark, you just have to wonder how these people can manage using them if their pockets are fast becoming empty as well on fuel expenses.
It is apparent that this is something that people never considered before. No one saw it coming and apparently it is all too late but the shouting. Wise decisions and spending are not too late though. You can stop driving these SUVs, or try to sell them (if there are people who would be crazy enough to afford them) and get a lower fuel-consuming car or hybrids.
It is a hard choice but hard times require wise measures. And this includes stepping on the brakes on gas guzzling vehicles that you can certainly do without today.
